This is silly, you should at least be able to embed from Google Drive. We have dozens of videos which we have hosted in google drive already. Not a job I want, having to move them all over to youtube. Privileged/Confidential information may be contained in this message and may be subject to legal privilege.

All i would like to do is put my stupid little video into my presentation THAT IS ALREADY UPLOADED ONTO DRIVE. But you FORCE me into uploading onto freakin youtubde, i do that, but it says 'this video was deleted by the owner.
NO, I JUST UPLOADED IM THE OWNER. Then i realize my school (the place where i will be giving this presentation) BLOCKS YOUTUBE IN THE FIRST PLACE. So screw you guys im making a Prezi. The have OPTIONS, so again screw you and your crutch youtube, i thought you were better than this. I just trained a teacher in Google Drive and Presentation and this question came up. How can I possibly recommend this for student use when only YouTube video (Schools BLOCK YouTube!) can be used!
I am now rescinding my recommendation and having the students create in power point. C'mon, Google, get it together! You should know by now that this is NOT how we work! Especially your public school users. I'm so disappointed.
On the other hand you can create a quick fix by allowing Presentation to pull video from that user's Google Drive Account! Make it happen!!
Graeme.p.smith 31/3/2014, 11:15 น. In your presentation (either Google slides or Powerpoint playing in Chrome Office or Office Apps) paste in a screen shot of the start of your video into the appropriate point of your presentation. If you're OK with the YouTube link, then hyperlink the image. If not, then this is your reminder to stop Presenter mode and then switch to the next tab with video on it. And then when the video is done, switch back to the tab with the presentation on and continue. (There are keyboard short cuts to switch tabs - depending on what browser you are using).
So yes, it's clunky and not optimal and Google should fix this. On the other hand, I've found it more productive than Powerpoint because normal slideshows often forces you through a pre-scripted presentation or business proposal which can bore the audience and keeps you on a script that it's hard to deviate from.
I've found over and over again that being able to pick a video to excite the audience generates new questions, wakes them up, and allows me to show material that maybe I hadn't previously considered. Or equally, I've skipped material that didn't seem so relevant in the light of day. This message originated from Carteret County Public Schools. First, you will need a YouTube account, and to make sure you are logged in.
Once you have your video created, go to YouTube and on the left side there should be link called 'My Channel' to click on. In the upper right hand corner, click on the 'Upload' button. This will take you to the page where you can drag and drop your video from where ever you saved it. As far as I know, you can upload any video, as long as it is not too long. After it is done uploading, you screen should look like the one below. Just change the settings if you don't want it Public, and click 'Publish.'
Now all you have to do is copy and paste your video link on Google Slides. Click on 'InsertVideoURL,' then paste your YouTube URL. A copy of your video should pop up if you put the correct URL in. Hit 'Select' once your video has appeared. The video should now be able to play straight through Google Slides. Jaden Giles 10/5/2015, 17:08 น. I made a video on the school I pad and sent it to my gmail address.
I then saved the video to my drive. It would not play, but google suggested I use cloud converter. After a few tries, I converted to AVI, created a link, sent the link to myself, and then embedded the link.
I had to insert the link using 'Insert'.' Converting to AVI, not the other multitude of options they offer, was the key! I then just have to click on the link and it worked.
Hope this works for you. JKDMS 5/6/2015, 7:37 น. Disclaimer: this is only a workaround video will play on new tab. In Google Drive and set the video's sharing to Anyone with Link. My school makes us use chromebooks with chrome OS, and so we have to use Google Slides. The video we wanted to use had a swear at the end, so we had to use ytCropper to cut it out. Now we can't use the cropped video because it's not in YouTube. I'm also unable to download then upload it, and not able to add the embed code I have for the video. Please add this feature ASAP.
I've programmed it in for my personal website, and I built that in my basement on a ten year old laptop plugged into the router! It's not that hard to do. (ไม่รู้จัก) 6/9/2015, 16:26 น. Judy Kealy 13/9/2015, 23:57 น.
I think I'm going to try the advanced linking features in Google Slides to make video presentations as well; I h8 powerpoint 2010 (mainly the UI and video incompatibility), but ever since I download BandiCam on my ginormous Dell Inspiron Desktop PC, I've been able to embed videos into PowerPoint presentations ever since. I've also tried on the Windows AND Macintosh previews of PowerPoint 2016 and they also work! Give these two presentation softwares a try today!
The Windows preview includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access, and you only have to uninstall/reinstall it every 180 days. It might include more applications but I haven't really given it a try yet so I don't know. Anyways, the Macintosh preview includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook. Please note that clicking these links will not download the software to your computer, but it will take you to the site where you can legally download it. I Really don't understand why this kind of feature isn't implemented yet, i mean if it was some sort of competition you were dealing with like vimeo or so, this would be almost understandable, but we talk about your own Drive content, this makes no sense as people putting content on youtube will set it private anyway.
And people actually pay for drive space If its only a consultation rights issue how about allowing only 'everyone with the link' video embed as a start? It really feels like you don't want people to use your slide tool in a professional way, and this is actually quite frustrating for a feature that seem not that crazy to set up Demi Philippou 8/12/2015, 20:25 น. &hd=1&autoplay=1' width='512' height='288' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen=?1? so the video plays in HD automatically like Youtube (only when opened on full screen though), autoplays, can go full screen, and is a good size for blogs for as well for HD videos. You cant stop the pop out tab right hand corner though, but its just there for a few secs).
I suggest though putting the videos in a separate folder and not sharing that folder, just sharing the videos you want to share, which stops anyone accessing your main drive. Hope that helps some people, may not be what your looking for, but works great for me!
You can also make other changes. If you want the video to autoplay change the autoplay=0 to a 1.
If you want to change the width and height of the video (in the quotations marks above), here is a list of video sizes you can use which won't distort the video. Recommended width and height for videos with 4:3 aspect ratios Best Choice: Multiples of 16 2nd Best Choice: Multiples of 8 3rd Best Choice: Multiples of 4 640 x 480 608 x 456 624 x 468 576 x 432 544 x 408 592 x 444 512 x 384 480 x 360 560 x 420 448 x 336 416 x 312 528 x 396 384 x 288 352 x 264 496 x 372 320 x 240 288 x 216 464 x 348 256 x 192 224 x 168 432 x 324 192 x 144 160 x 120 400 x 300. It is rather sad, most would say pathetic, that after four YEARS of this particular thread, Google's best answer is 'Let us know that you'd like the feature.' Four years of discussion, of consistent questions, and of people ASKING for this feature later they can't seem to understand that it is wanted? Maybe we users haven't been clear enough (or maybe Google just doesn't care about its user base because they've got too much marketshare to worry about) so I'll state it once more (along with having asked through the Slides site). The workaround for Powerpoint is ridiculous.
The workaround for Google slides is nonexistent. I am the curriculum coordinator in a school; good presentations about teaching and learning require video. We want easy ways to embed video that we created in-house, uploaded to our shared (private) Vimeo account. Our school BLOCKS You Tube, and once you convert a video to Vimeo you can't seem to retrieve it to upload to You Tube even if you wanted. C'mon, Google, get it together!
I'm so disappointed. Does Prezi have this same proprietary nonsense?
Juln 4/2/2016, 10:49 น. Uploaded the video on youTube under my WORK youtube account (this is managed by my company so in case I leave, the account will be disabled and there is no risk for me to keep any content). This is good because YouTube recognise most extension and convert them in YouTube format.
Now, by editing the video settings, there are some interesting options:. Public.
Unlisted. Private. None of these were an option from me BUT there is a button under that list called 'EDIT'.
There you can do 2 things:. Share with selected people (you need to manually add their email and they have to have a google account with that email). Share with your work domain. Sharing with your work domain make the video still invisible to external and make it accessible to other member of the company. This is no different from having the video in google drive.
What the ####! OMFG THIS DOESN'T WORK STUPID GOOGLE SLIDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a teacher who uses Google Drive/Docs/Slides/Sheets often. I teach my students to use Google for a variety of reasons, but mostly since I love that they can access their work from home and school. The more I use (mostly docs and slides) the more I end up running into problems like these. Being the tech-savvy, figure-it-out-on-your-own type of person I am, I always turn to GOOGLE to find the answers to my questions. Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10 I end up at a dead end with a forum like this. I am always shocked and amazed that the most simple, most necessary, and user-friendly features are NOT available. I am more and more shocked at the sheer number of features that are just not available to Google users.
When looking up the 'Google Philosophy' I found several pieces of information that I believe to be incredibly misleading. On the page titled 'Ten things we know to be true' the number one item is 'Focus on the user and all else will follow' I am quite confused by this because it seems that every time I come to a forum like this, there has been some employee of Google responding to user requests saying 'we just aren't going to do that.' No explanation. No logical reason why (or any reason at all for that matter). No promise to look into it and please the numerous users who have also requested the same feature. No focusing on 'providing the best user experience possible' whatsoever. Google users are clearly stating what they would like to see happen, and nothing has been done to provide them any support.
Some suggestions I've seen at 3-5 years old, and STILL, nothing has been done. As a teacher who is trying to teach my students about living in the digital age and using the very best resources available to them, I find it incredibly difficult to keep pushing my students to use Google. When we can accomplish SO.
Using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, (the list goes on and on) why would I have them working with a sub-par system? Like I said, there are many reasons why I would love to continue using Google with my students. However, since these students are the future of our world, I would like to think that they would have more access to BASIC features that they will need to know how to use in the rest of their technological lives.
Sorry for the rant, but this forum was the cherry on top of a mountain of disappointment with Google that has been building. I've looked for how to rotate a picture in slides (doesn't seem unreasonable, right?) I've explained why I need an easier way to include videos in slides (for the benefit of my students), I've looked for ways to show students my Google Calendar with the color coding I've set up (it simply cannot be done!) and don't even get me started on the lack of features in Google Docs (adding columns in a document doesn't seem like too much to ask for!). Hi everyone, Thanks for your continued feedback on inserting videos into Google Slides.
I'm excited to announce that as of today, you are able to insert videos from Google Drive. To access this feature, open your Slides and then go to Insert Video Google Drive. For more specifics on how this feature works, please visit. A special thank you to those who helped influence this build by filling out our survey.
Please feel free to submit any additional feedback in-product through Help Report a Problem or post on this forum. Cheers, -Paul m4mepo 8/2/2017, 12:09 น.
